Central postings await IPS officers as govt plans to increase strength in various organisation

There is some good news for senior IPS officers as they might get central deputation in country's top forces. The government is planning to increase the strength of additional director generals (ADGs) and senior rank officials in various organisation, including Delhi Police, Central Industrial Security Force, National Security Guard and Sashastra Seema Bal.

Various organisations have started reviewing demands of their top heads. Central police departments have to prepare a report , which will be filed to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) before the ministry takes a call on it. There is general dissatisfaction among senior officers with less prominent state postings.

"Forces that come under the MHA have started reviewing the strength of ADGs and above rank officials as various senior IPS officers are keen to join central forces. To accommodate the heavy flow of senior rank officers, organisations have been asked review their strength. Every Central Armed Police Force will send their requirement and proposal and the MHA will take a final call on the demands of forces," a Special Director General rank.

According to sources, various organisations will get two to three senior officials. This step will be a breather for senior rank IPS officers who are trying hard to leave state and come on central deputation. For instance, the CISF will be asking for two more ADG rank officials. Currently, there are only two ADG rank official in the organisation. There is a buzz that the Delhi Police will have three more special commissioners for law and order. There are nine Special CP rank official who are equivalent to the ADG. "Delhi Police will probably having three special commissioners for law and order, besides one more addition in senior rank in Delhi Police," a senior rank official in the MHA said.

Similarly, the CISF, who has almost the double strength as Delhi Police with about 1,45,000 staff, will get two ADGs for two sectors. "The CISF will get two ADGs, one will be ADG north sector and another will be ADG south sector. Currently, there is only one ADG heading airport sector and ADG headquarters was recently given to 1983 batch IPS Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar," sources said.

Apart from big forces, small forces like SSB will get one more ADG who will be heading three Inspector General (IG) rank officers. Currently, there are only one ADG and one DG.

"This procedure of expansion of central forces will take almost months as organisations have to give their requirement after conducting a review. A report will then be submitted to the MHA. Ranks will be introduced after MHA's approval,"
